I do not care whether or not you identify as an anti/proship, BUT IF YOU TRY TO DRAG ME INTO DRAMA I WILL BLOCK YOU, and if you start flooding my feed with excessive discourse, I will have to mute you. And bear in mind, I HATE being on the receiving end of a mute/block/unfollow/never-follow-back so PLEASE don’t put me in a position where I have to do it to someone else, ESPECIALLY if I’ve already established some kind of friendly/familiar connection with you.

Since I guess this is needed, Here’s my views on anti/proship discourse so that you all know where I stand so you know where I am coming and to cover my ass in case someone tries to twist my words and use them against me even if they were not the original intent.

Apologies for the Wall of text, but I really have to be careful with my wording and lawyer all of this so that my words can't be twisted against me (CW mentions of rape, incest and murder):

-I don’t identify strongly as either an anti or a proship
-IT HELPS TO LEARN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN “TASTELESS” AND “PROBLEMATIC” CONTENT
-Fiction CAN affect reality, but it’s less of a black-and-white issue and is more various shades of grey because of HOW COMPLEX AND VAST the topic is.
-I think sexualizing anime/cartoon minors is weird and kind of TASTELESS (and so are reactionary/offensive-for-the-sake-of-being-offensive pushback hashtags that utilize that content to “own” people), BUT I think that stuff isn’t worth doxxing or calling the cops on someone over since no IRL minor is being sexualized (therefore not making it problematic let alone be worth making a callout post over)
-I will admit that it is definitely WEIRD and OVERDONE that a lot of anime sexualize their underage characters and draw them to look older, but I hold that grudge between the manga/anime creator and the industry itself, NOT the fan-content creators and people who are attracted to these characters (who often are attracted to the features that make them look older. Seriously, no IRL 17-year-old looks like Part 3 Jotaro Kujo).
-BUT I DO NOT SUPPORT HARASSMENT OR DOXXING IF NOBODY IS IN ACTUAL REAL IMMEDIATE DANGER
-Both sides have valid points BUT the validity of NEITHER side can EASILY be summed up by any blanket statements.
-Fiction CAN affect reality IF the belief/behavior it is portraying is NOT COMMONLY ADDRESSED/KNOWN AMONGST THE GENERAL POPULACE: (example: Wanting to buy a pet clownfish after watching Finding Nemo because most people don’t commonly know that clownfish are high-maintenance fish, 50 Shades of Grey influencing a rise in R@pe cases because most people didn’t know what proper consent-based BDSM and abuse looked like)
-HOWEVER it’s generally considered morally bad to COMMIT incest, rape, murder, etc and that’s why people could watch Game of Thrones and NOT want to fuck their brother or watch Hannibal and NOT want to commit cannibalism, THEREFORE IT WOULD BE A LOT HARDER to influence people (be it in fandom or through mass media) to commit such acts
-There is a REASON why most children’s media doesn’t openly portray dark themes like CSA, Abuse, racism, etc AND uncritically show it in the manner that shows like GoT or Hannibal or Breaking Bad do, and that is because CHILDREN ARE STILL DEVELOPING CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS AND LEARNING THE SOCIAL NORMS AND MORALS OF WHAT IS CONSIDERED ACCEPTABLE AND THEREFORE ARE MORE EASILY INFLUENCED AT THAT AGE.
-HOWEVER, if the show is TARGETED TOWARDS ADULTS, IT CAN BE ASSUMED THAT THE RESULTING FANBASE COLLECTIVELY HOLDS THE MORALS AND CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS TO BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE A CHARACTER’S PROBLEMATIC BEHAVIOR AND NOT CONDONE IT IRL AND THEREFORE CAN BE ABLE TO EXPLORE THOSE THEMES WITH THE SAFETY THAT FICTION CAN PROVIDE
-_ESSENTIALLY: Children are MORE EASILY INFLUENCED into doing certain behaviors or believing certain things than Adults are due to the differences in their growth in critical thinking skills, and that’s why children’s shows have to follow certain standards of how they depict themes while shows targeted towards adults can have more leeway in how they portray the subject matter because it is assumed that the adult fanbase has the critical thinking skills needed to be able to not be so easily influenced into committing real-life crimes
-I will say that as a baseline: Tagging is ALWAYS essential, AND people have to be MINDFUL of how they conduct themselves and what content they put into certain fandom spaces DEPENDING on who the TARGET AUDIENCE of the source media is, and WHAT YOU SHOULD AND SHOULDN’T DO IS DEPENDENT ON THE TARGET AUDIENCE OF THE PIECE OF MEDIA.
-For instance: if you're playing an online MMRPG that's marketed towards players aged 9+(so, children) or you're in a fandom for a CHILDREN'S SHOW like miraculous ladybug or steven universe, maybe you should take more care in how you handle nsfw or "problematic" content and be more mindful of the children because you are in THEIR space.
-HOWEVER if you're in a fandom for a show that's marketed towards adults like JoJo, you probably have LESS OF AN OBLIGATION to have to look out for or be mindful of children since if a child sees the problematic/nsfw content, that's because they purposefully went to a space and fandom that wasn't INTENDED for them.

IN REGARDS TO SHIPPING GIOMIS IN PARTICULAR, HERE IS HOW I SEE THE SITUATION:
-Their age difference is 2 years and 4 months, and Giorno’s canon 16th birthday date was a week after the end of Vento Aureo. This makes their age difference essentially 16 and 18 in my eyes
-16 and 18 is basically a high school sophomore and a high school senior. They would have literally been taking the same high school classes together had they been normal teenagers.
-Where I come from, school seniors and high school sophomores date each other all the time and it is seen as both legal and morally okay because of the similarities in maturity at that age group.
-Had Mista been 19 instead of 18 and giorno had still been 15/16, I’d have been less inclined to ship them. However, that is not the case.
-I DO NOT ship or depict them in an NSFW way UNLESS a CLEAR effort was made to make them look/act older in the fanart/fanfic.
-This is also reflected in how I handle writing fanfic of them or commission art of them, as I try my best to handle them and all the nuances of their age/maturity situation with as much care and respect as possible.
-Just because someone ships them doesn’t automatically make them a Pdo especially if they don’t even ship them in an nsfw way.

If you read all this, I appreciate it, Hopefully we can see clearer about the issue. The main takeaway is that while I have my own VERY NUANCED TAKE on things, I won’t really care what yours is AS LONG AS YOU DON’T DRAG ME INTO DRAMA OVER IT AND YOU DON’T HARASS PEOPLE OVER FICTION. If you follow these rules, we will get along fine.
